Dense fog advisory issued

By Norwalk Reflector staff • Updated Feb 7, 2019 at 7:01 AM

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a dense fog advisory for Huron County and the surrounding areas that will be in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday.

The advisory went into effect at 3:42 p.m.

Moist, mild air over a cold ground has produced areas of dense fog across the region. In addition, cold air flowing off Lake Erie has also caused dense fog to develop as it interacts with the moist air to the south. Cooler, westerly winds will cause the fog to thin from the west later this evening and overnight.

Visibility will be reduced to one quarter to one half mile at times, making travel difficult.

A dense fog advisory is issued when visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter mile.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
