First rain and snow, then subzero temperatures

By Norwalk Reflector staff • Jan 28, 2019 at 1:52 PM

Very cold temperatures are expected across the region Tuesday through Thursday with dangerously cold wind chills.

Two days of Arctic temperatures could cause frozen water lines in structures and stress automobile batteries.

Before the frigid weather arrives, however, a wintry mix is on tap for Norwalk.

Snow is likely before 2 p.m. today, then rain and snow. Not much accumulation is expected. It will be breezy, with gusts as high as 37 mph. The high will be in the upper 30s.

Tonight will bring more rain and snow until 9 p.m., then all snow after that. The low will dip to 15.

The dangerously cold weather arrives Tuesday, when the low will be minus 8.

The temperature is expected to be subzero all Wednesday. It could reach 3 on Thursday before dipping below zero again.

On Friday, the high and low will be in the double digits, but still below 20.

The Arctic air will release its grip by the weekend, however. Saturday’s high will be in the mid 20s, while Sunday’s high will be near 40.

Today, the sun will rise at 7:44:32 a.m. and set at 5:42:29 p.m.

On Tuesday, the sun will rise at 7:43:37 a.m. and set at 5:43:44 p.m.
