Norwalk boys third at SBC Lake championships

GIBSONBURG — The Norwalk boys placed third on Friday at the SBC Lake Division track and field championships at Gibsonburg High School.

The Truckers scored 106 points, which was behind champion Perkins (165.6) and runners-up Sandusky (118.5).

Among the top placers for Norwalk on Friday was Mitchell Sommers, who took second in the 800-meter run in 2:01.68. Kyler Kromer was third in the 1600 (4:35.14) and teammate Robert Vazquez was fifth in the 1600 (4:46.09).

Trey Leroux was fourth in the discus throw (137-feet-2) and the 4x100 relay team of Caleb Robinson, Ian Scheid, Mason Hughes and Jake Sommers was also fourth (44.18).

The Norwalk girls were sixth with 37 points. The 4x100 relay team of Paige Maurer, Marly Geretz, Masci Horner and Madison Shutt took second in a school record time of 52.48 seconds. Shutt was also third in the 100 dash (13.12).

In the SBC Bay Division standings, Edison was third (103) and Willard was fifth (65). In the boys race, Edison was second (167) by 3.5 points to champion Oak Harbor, and Willard was fifth (75).

For the Willard boys, Josh Holida won the discus throw in the Bay Division (157 feet) and was second in the shot put (48-feet-0.25).

Joey Holida took second at 6-feet-4 in the high jump and fourth in the discus throw (129-feet-5), while Trenton Rupert was second in the 400 (51.91). Brevon Polacheck was fourth in the high jump (5-feet-10).

For the Willard girls, Mckenna Stephens was second in the 300 hurdles (48.89). Amy Delangel was third in the 3200 (12:34.81), as was Hannah Buss in the discus (103-feet-2).

Alyse Cok was fourth in the long jump (14-feet-7.25), as was the 4x200 relay of Cok, Stephens, and Chloe and Lydia Wiers in 1:53.56.

For Edison, Tyler Coon won the 3200 (9:40.04) and Daniel Lambert was second (9:59.74). The pair also went 1-2 in the 1600 run (4:25.65 and 4:27.06). Coon also won the 800 (1:59.29) and teammate Jon Hrivnak was second (2:02.81).

Seth Kromer won the pole vault (12 feet) and Dylan O’Dell won the high jump (6-feet-4), while Connor Romell second in the 100 (11.53) and 200 (23.39). Joseph Malick was second in the discus (134-feet-2) and fourth in the shot put (44-feet-9.25).

Also second for Edison was the 4x100 relay of Romell, Ian Janssen, Justin Daniel and Joseph Stoll (44.41). The 4x200 team of Romell, Janssen, Daniel and Stoll also was second (1:34.77).

Stoll was third in the 100 (11.53) and Janssen was fourth long jump (19-feet-11.75). Morgan Otto was third in the 110 hurdles (16.05).

For the Edison girls, Abby Lesniak won the 800 (2:22.14), 1600 (5:16.80) and 3200 (11:24.17). Aliyah Caporini was third in the 300 hurdles (49.35).
