By Norwalk Reflector staff • Sep 19, 2018 at 10:39 PM

WILLARD — Visiting Galion ran its win streak to 43 in a row, which included a second, narrow 3-2 win over host Willard on Wednesday in an Ohio Tennis Coaches Association second-round match.

The Tigers won all three singles positions to clinch the match, as a comeback by Willard’s Carlee Gibson at second singles came up a little short.

Galion’s Kayley Gimbel, a returning state qualifier, beat Emma Moll at first singles (6-2, 6-0), while Katherine Talbott topped Gibson in two close sets, 6-4, 6-4. Third singles saw Jolyn Oswald beat Addy Paxton (6-2, 6-2).

Willard (14-2) won both doubles matches.

The No. 1 team of Addie Slone and Jo Brubaker defeated Danielle Schneider and Kiersten Gifford (6-1, 7-6, 9-7). At second singles, Kennedy Daub and Whitney Robinson defeated Katie Baugh and Elli Chandler (6-4, 7-6, 7-5).

Willard hosts the individual SBC Bay division tournament today, then hosts the rescheduled Willard doubles tournament to be held at Norwalk on Saturday. The Flashes look for back-to-back SBC Bay titles next week with matches against Oak Harbor (Tuesday) and Edison (Thursday).
