LOS ANGELES — Luke Perry reportedly died today after suffering massive stroke. He was 52.

Multiple news agencies, including Fox News, are reporting the actor’s death.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call on Wednesday morning for an “unspecified medical aid request” at a Sherman Oaks home, according to Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the department. Humphrey could not confirm additional details, but said a paramedic ambulance transported a person to a local hospital.

The 52-year-old actor, most recently seen on the CW show “Riverdale,” reportedly suffered a stroke, according to TMZ.

Coy Luther "Luke" Perry III was born Oct. 11, 1966 in Mansfield and raised in Fredericktown.

The father of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) was the Mansfield doctor who delivered Perry.

“Luke Perry represented what makes our state great — generosity, humility, and a fighting spirit,” said Brown, who also was born in Mansfield. “Connie and I join the Mansfield and Fredericktown communities in offering our deep sympathies to Luke’s family and friends on their loss.”

Perry’s mother, Ann Bennett, was a homemaker, and his father, Coy Luther Perry Jr., was a steelworker.

Perry served as the school mascot, the Fredericktown High School Freddie.

Perry moved to Los Angeles shortly after high school to pursue acting, as he had no opportunities to do so in Ohio. He worked as a paver and lived in various cities including Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Downey and Paramount.

Perry landed the role of Dylan McKay on the TV series “Beverly Hills, 90210.” He played that role from 1990 to 1995, and again from 1998 to 2000. He starred as Fred Andrews on the CW series “Riverdale.”

A day before Perry went into the hospital last week, Fox announced a six-episode revival of “Beverly Hills, 90210.” However, he was not attached to the project.

Perry was married to Rachel Minnie Sharp from 1993 to 2003. The couple have two children, Jack, 21, and Sophie, 18.
