Area trio earn SBC Bay first team honors

Three area players were named to the All-Sandusky Bay Conference Bay division first team, it was announced on Tuesday.

Edison juniors Lindsey Fortuna and Morgan Scott, along with Willard junior Jena Adams were each selected to the first team.

A pitcher for the Chargers, Fortuna made 21 starts and finished with a 3.73 ERA in 122 innings of work. She struck out 73 batters. Offensively, Fortuna batted .514 with seven doubles, two home runs and 22 RBis.

Scott, an outfielder, batted .381 with two doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs. She scored 23 runs. Grace Houser and Leah Krul were both honorable mention choices for Edison.

At catcher, Adams batted .443 with three doubles, a triple, one home run and 23 RBIs. Behind the plate, she made just two errors with a .970 fielding percentage.

Earning second team honors was a trio of underclass players for the Crimson Flashes (11-7). Sophomore infielder Haylie Hamons, and outfielders Cathern Hamons (sophomore) Kalli Sowers (freshman) were voted to the second team.

Morgan Hamons and Elli White were both honorable mention for Willard.

Bellevue dominates SBC Lake list

The SBC Lake champion Lady Red seven regulars on the all-league team, including five on the first team.

Senior outfielder Sophia Pressler was voted the Outstanding Performer for the Lake division. She led Bellevue (18-6) in most offensive categories as the Lady Red won the league title and reached a Division II district championship game.

Through 21 games, Pressler batted .472 with six doubles, four home runs, 16 RBIs and 22 runs scored. She also stole 12 bases.

Junior Riley Mohr and sophomore Alex Fiske were both selected to the first team in the infield, while senior Maycie Buckner joined Pressler in the outfield, and senior Lyndsey Seamon was first team at pitcher.

Honorable mention choices for the Lady Red included Marissa McClenathan and Raquelle Seamon.

Earning second team honors for Norwalk was senior outfielder Maddie Deiderick. Honorable mention selections for Norwalk included Sydney Hughes and Leah Malson.
