For Edison, Lindsey Fortuna was 2 for 3 with a double, while Alana Fidler was 2 for 3. Fortuna pitched for Edison (0-1), allowing four earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk in six innings.

MILAN — The Chargers opened the season with a sweep over visiting Vermilion in an SBC matchup on Monday.
At first singles, James Hill opened with a win over Jack Rini (6-0, 6-1), while Bryan Johnston followed at No. 2 with a sweep over Kyle Billings (6-0, 6-0). At third singles, Carter Kramer edged Branden Weitzel (6-3, 6-3).
At first doubles, Edison’s Nick Lombardi and Connor Goodwin beat Sam Dewey and Grayson Jones (6-0, 6-2). Nick Shupe and Lincoln Meredith completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Aaron Gross and Alex Cantu.
