By JOE CENTERS • Apr 18, 2018 at 12:00 PM

Melissa Ackison said it’s time for a change.

The Marysville, Ohio, resident is running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Sherrod Brown.

Ackison is involved in a five-person Republican primary race with Mike Gibbons, Jim Renacci, Don Elijah Eckhart and Dan Kiley.

The primary is May 8.

The general election will take place on Nov. 6.

Brown is running for re-election to a third term.

“I feel I am good enough to make a change,” said Ackison, who was in the area recently. “I don’t want to live under failed policies.

“General civics let us know the house and senate legislate for the people. I think currently on both sides of the aisle people are working for their best interests.”

For Ackison, who lives on a small farm in Marysville, it is her first time in politics although she said she was invited to the White House as an advocate of repeal and replace of the Affordable Care Act.

According to her website https://ackisonforussenate.com, Ackison describes herself having a pro-Trump agenda, pro-life, pro-second amendment, pro-military, a Christian conservative and a constitution conservative.

The small-business owner said she is ready for the stretch drive.

“I love it,” she said. “It’s inspring when I give speeches and see grown men crying. I want to have a world where we can be judged on our own merits.

“I’m hear to restore order to the chaos in Washington.”
