He wore many hats in his life. He was a Navy Corpsman, surgical tech, police officer, fire fighter/EMT, and sheriff’s deputy.
John was always willing and ready to lend a hand to those in need. He was a big part of the Starfish Project and Teen Challenge, two organizations he was passionate about to help those with addiction to get the help they need.
He loved to fish, travel, cook, try new foods, and spend time with his friends and family.
John is survived by his wife of 18 years, Renee Harris; stepdaughter, Kellie (Brad) Shook; two grandsons, Braden and Gavin Shook; mother, Sue Keenan; brothers, Scott Harris, Jerry (Deanna) Reedy and Jason Linder; sisters, Shari (Ray) Dawson and Holly Denney; stepbrother, Jimmy (Brooke) Rockford; stepsister, Jodi (Chuck) Ditmers; and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Harris Sr.
Family and friends may gather from 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, until a memorial service at 2 p.m., at Secor Funeral Home in Willard. The Rev. Doug Winner will be officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Teen Challenge of the Firelands in Willard.
