He was born on July 7, 1949, in Oberlin, Ohio, to the late Martin H. and Ruth A. (Nieding) Hacker. He was a 1967 graduate of South Central High School.
Fred enjoyed tinkering in his shop, lawn work and visiting with his neighbors. He served his country in the U.S. Air National Guard and retired from Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #711 and Willard Moose.
Survivors include his numerous nieces and nephews; siblings, Mary A. Abramoska of Palm Bay, Florida, Carl H. (Lana) Hacker of Greenwich, Ruth A. (Kevin) Marenberg of Sandusky, Jane A. (Josh) Weaver of Fort Myers, Florida; brother and sister in-laws, Linda Kamann, Janet (Rodney) Anderson, Judy (Jay) Schaffer.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; brother, John H. Hacker; and brother in-laws, Robert, Eugene and William Kessler.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio, where a service will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery in Monroeville.
