Lester Harry Sadler

HURON — Lester Harry Sadler, 97, of Huron, passed away of natural causes Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, in his daughter Julie's home in Berlin Heights.

He was born Dec. 2, 1921, to Harry and Albertine Sadler. He was the husband of Vivian; father of Cheryl (Ed) Murphy of Elyria, Denise (Kevin) Trares of Huron, Steve (Laura) Sadler, of Chicago, and Julie Sadler (Tony Molnar Sr.) of Berlin Heights; grandfather of Matthew Gockstetter, of Columbus, and Jeff Gockstetter of Edmond, Okla.; great-grandfather of Vivian, William, Madeleine and Reese Gockstetter; brother to sisters, Dee Riley, Shirley Gamon, Alberta Leonardi, and brother Gary Sadler.

Les was First Class Petty Officer in the Coast Guard during World War II, was employed with Chapin and Chapin in Norwalk, for 33 years, and retired as equipment superintendent. He was the longest standing 80-year member of the Ohio Operating Engineers.

He enjoyed boating, fishing and gardening. He was a member of Huron Eagles, Sandusky American Legion and Norwalk Knights of Columbus. He treasured his Catholic faith and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron and formerly a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Norwalk where he attended for many years.

Les was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Vivian, in 2004; and a brother, Donald, age five, in 1928.

Services will be private. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home in Berlin Heights is handling the arrangements.
