Richard 'Butch' Conaway

NORTH FAIRFIELD — Richard “Butch” Conaway, 81, of North Fairfield, died Saturday morning, Aug. 31, 2019, in Gaymont Nursing Center.

He was born June 15, 1938, in Seville, Ohio, to Russel Warner and May Rossella (Gordon) Conaway. Butch was a North Fairfield High School graduate.

Butch was a hard worker, retiring after nearly 30 years at the former General Motors Plant in Mansfield and from the U.S. Post Office. He enjoyed farming and clearing brush in his later years. He loved his children, traveling, and camping, and cheering for the Cleveland Browns.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Joan (Noftz) Conaway; children, Debbie (Ken) King, Pam (John) Walker, Rick (Judi) Conaway and Bob (Joan) Conaway; grandchildren, Jenny Prelipp, Allison, Anelise, Elizabeth, David, Grace and Eric; sisters, Norma Rang and Barbara Warwick; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert and Russel Conaway.

Friends and family will be received 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in North Fairfield Cemetery.
