She was born June 22, 1937 in Norwalk to the late William “Gene” and Helen (Kramer) Collier.
She was President of the family business, Wheeler Sheet Metal, Inc. in Norwalk, and the company bookkeeper for many years. She was a second-grade teacher at St. Paul Elementary School and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, visiting the Amish Country and seeing Ohio Bicentennial Barns during her trips. She was a Eucharistic Minister, where she had the privilege to visit sick and sequestered people offering communion to each. She proudly supported the Sisters of Notre Dame, but, most of all, she was a family-driven wife, mother, grand-mother, and great-grandmother to her beloved descendants.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Deb) Wheeler of Milan, Randy (Lori) Wheeler of Norwalk, Teri (John) Frank of Norwalk, Laura Wheeler of Norwalk, Charley (Carol) Wheeler of Norwalk, and Ben Wheeler of South Windsor, CT; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Mary Stein and Kenneth (Martha) Collier; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Wheeler in 2003; sister, Wilma Collier; and brother-in-law, Robert Stein.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk with Monsignor Kenneth Morman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
