She was born on June 3, 1938 to the late Elmer F. and Louise E. (Conney) Smith in Mansfield, Ohio. Rita graduated in 1956 from St. Peter’s High School in Mansfield. She married the love of her life, Ronald M. Rospert, in 1958. Rita was the bookkeeper for her husband’s businesses, Rospert’s Concrete Paving and Ye Olde Canal Antiques, and retired as the clerk for the Village of Milan in 1998. Rita was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed praying, gardening, and antiquing with her husband. She cherished spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Rita is survived by her children, Randy (Carla) Rospert of Milan, Rhonda (Ken) Ostheimer of Milan, Cindy (Butch) Eppler of Norwalk, Shelly (fiancé Jeffrey) Rospert of Milan, Brian (Cindi) Rospert of Milan; her grandchildren, Bethany (Kenny), Zachary, Sarah (Ralph), Adam, Josh (Alison), Courtney (Kyle), Cody, Amanda (Adam), Shawn, Brad, Jay (Heidi), Derek, Matt, Doug, Alyssa, Caiti (Brian), Riley, Olivia, and eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Helen Augustine, Jean Frazzini, and Jerry (Sue) Smith, by in-laws, Kathy Smith, Janice Smith, Eugene (Mary Ann) Rospert, Larry Rospert, Jack (Jeanne) Rospert, Dan (Kathy) Rospert, Sister Janice Rospert, and Mary Ann (Larry) Stoll.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years in 2010, by her siblings, Donald Smith, Norbert Smith, Raymond Smith, and John Smith in infancy, her in-laws, Patricia Rospert, Dorothy Smith, Dominic Augustine, Al Frazzini, and Denny Rospert.
Family and friends may call on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio and also Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Milan from 9:30 AM until Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM, with Msgr. Ken Morman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
