Rita Jane (Stieber) Singler

SANDUSKY — Rita Jane (Stieber) Singler, 84, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday morning, October 7, 2018 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Rita was born on August 27, 1934 in Norwalk, OH to the late Edward and Bertha (Smith) Stieber.

Rita was a 1952 graduate of Monroeville High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rita had been a nurse at the former Providence Hospital. She enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband and cooking. Rita was known for her holiday and family gatherings, and her delicious food. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Jeffery) Baier of Sylvania and Melinda (John) Eisenhauer of Bellevue; sons, Monsignor Charles E. Singler of Miller City, Jeffery (Becky) Singler of Huron and Scott (Anne) Singler of Sandusky; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Hohler of Norwalk; brothers, Robert E. Stieber and Paul Stieber of Norwalk and James Stieber of Milan and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Singler and brother, Joseph Stieber.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with a Rosary Service beginning at 4:00 pm. Friends may also call from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Vigil Prayer Service for Rita will begin at 7:00 pm. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 am on Friday, October 12, 2018 followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Monsignor Charles E. Singler will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
