William (Bill) Mazzocco

NORWALK — William (Bill) Mazzocco passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Bill was born to Italian immigrants on July 7, 1920 in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from Schenley High School in 1938, and joining the CCCs, Bill was a proud 1942 graduate of Penn State, where he earned his Master’s Degree. Bill served as a First Lieutenant in the Army (Pacific theater) in WWII, and in Camp Polk, Louisiana, during the Korean War. Bill came to Norwalk, Ohio, in 1947, and became a teacher, and Head Coach, at St. Paul High School. Bill married Elizabeth Landoll in 1951. In 1954 Bill moved his family to Fremont, Ohio, where he worked as a teacher, and coach, at Fremont Ross High School, and later got into real estate (Mazzocco Realty), which he enjoyed for over 40 years. In 2006, he retired to Orlando, Florida. He enjoyed music, golf, history, and a good cigar.

Bill is survived by his children Michele, Jeff (Diane), Tod (Carol), and Denise, by grandsons, William and Jonathan, great-grandson Nicholas (Nikko), brother, Anthony (Sharkey), and half-sister Addie Neville.

There will be no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 15, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Inurnment will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Athletic Boosters, 93 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
