He was born October 11, 1948 in Detroit, MI to the late Rudolph and Esie (Fall) Mango. He was a graduate of Redford High School in Detroit and served over seven years in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. He worked eight years for CBS Transportation lived in Arizona for seven years, and retired after 14 years with the Elyria Chronicle Telegram. He enjoyed working part-time at Wendy’s and was employee of the year his second year. He was a member of the North Fairfield Assembly of God where he was active and belonged to the prayer group. His family knows him well as always trying to make the perfect Pizza. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and baking oatmeal cookies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Susan (Byrnes) Mango of North Fairfield; sons, Brian “Tony” (Matilda) Mango of Elyria and James (Amy) Mango of Cleveland; grandchildren, Sebastian, Gabriel, Isabella, Luciana and Drusilla; siblings, Daniel (Joann) Mango of Old Town, FL, Michael (Joann) Mango of Northville, MI, David (Doris) Mango of Redford, MI, Ann Marie (Terry) Downs of Homosassa, FL, Charles (Heather) Mango of Chattanooga, TN, Mary Theres (Robert) Evans of IN, Anthony Brian (Rob Eakin) Mango of Tampa, FL, Laura Plains of St. Petersburg, FL, Rudolph (Rebecca) Mango of Old Town, FL, John (Esther) Mango of Wixom, MI and Jonni Mango of Clearwater, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas; and sister, Victoria at nine years old. A Celebration of his Life will be held in church at a later date.
