Mildred (Shingleton) Bartlett

SEBRING, Fla. — Mildred “Nanny” (Shingleton) Bartlett, 94, of Sebring, died Friday at home.

She was born Aug. 11, 1923 in Grafton, W.Va., daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Shingleton

On June 29, 1940, she married Suddarth F. Bartlett of Grafton, W.Va. and he preceded her death on May 28, 2010.

They resided in West Virginia for about a year, and then moved to Sandusky, Ohio. They moved to Milan, Ohio in 1948 and then to Norwalk, Ohio in 1964.

After wintering in Florida for nearly two decades, she and her husband moved to Sebring in 1999.

She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall and sharing her faith with others through the door-to-door ministry.

She also enjoyed fishing, collecting glass doll planters, playing cards and shoes.

She is survived by five children and their spouses, Larry and Carol Bartlett, Donald and Brenda Bartlett, and Karen and William Morr, all of Norwalk; Kenneth and Martha Bartlett of Kentucky; and David and Connie Bartlett of Sebring; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Bartlett of Lorain, Scott Bartlett of Norwalk, Don Barlett of Jackson City, Jason Bartlett of Norwalk, Tammy Wales of Louisville, Ky., Julie Irovando of Valrico, Fla., Jodie Roche of Norwalk, Jill Spildener of Berea, Anthony Bartlett of Mascote, Fla. and Aaron Bartlett of Sebring; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Hovatter of Norwalk; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband of nearly 70 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and three sisters.

A local memorial service will take place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Norwalk Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 37 Cline St., with Eli White officiating.
