Robert “Bob” Poland Sr.

NORWALK — Robert “Bob” Poland Sr., age 78, of Norwalk, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born August 1, 1939 in Monroeville to the late Gilbert and Dorothy (Geren) Poland. Bob worked at Norwalk Service Garage and Fitzgerald Body Shop. Bob enjoyed working part-time the last year and a half at Schild’s IGA. He enjoyed spending time with his family and with his buddies. He used to enjoy trap shooting and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Timbs) Poland whom he married June 27, 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroeville; Son’s Robert “Rob” Poland Jr. and Stephen “Steve” Poland, both of Norwalk; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ronald Poland.

At Bob’s request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Riverside Cemetery in Monroeville with Monsignor Kenneth Morman officiating. A reception will follow at St. Paul Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Poland family in care of the funeral home or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. Bob’s family wishes to thank all of their family and friends for their love, support and prayers during his illness. Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
