Born 1/31/1929 in Norwalk Ohio, he is the child of James E, Doyle and Hazel (Brady) Doyle. He attended Culver Military Academy in Indiana and graduated from Lake Worth High School in Florida. He attended the University of Miami undergraduate program, and was a graduate of the University of Miami Law School.
After law school, he served active duty in the U.S. army in the Korean conflict as a Lieutenant, with honorable discharge. He married Faith Burtis of Harrison New York in 1957, and they just recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. He continued the family printing business as owner and president of Gulfstream Press and Rotary Business Forms in Miami, and Rotary Printing Company in Norwalk Ohio.
An avid football fan, he was a long-time Miami Hurricanes season ticket holder as well as an original season ticket holder for the Miami Dolphins. He was an automobile aficionado and race car fan, owning a rare Lancia Aurelia, being a founding member of the Edsel Racing Team and attending the Daytona 500 race annually from the opening of the track in 1958 until 1999. He felt strongly about civic duty and was a lifelong member of the Rotary Club, Elks Club, Emerald Society and American Legion. A devout Catholic he was a 3 rd Degree Knight of Columbus, a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher and longtime parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Miami Shores, and later of St. Joseph Parish in Surfside Florida. A passionate golfer, he was a former member of Miami Shores Country Club, LaGorce Country Club, Indian Creek Country Club and Plum Brook Country Club in Sandusky Ohio, where he shot his one and only hole-in one.
He was a loving father to Richard Jr (Barron), Faith Walsh, Theodore (Tab), and James (Brady) Doyle. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Jimmy, Eileen, Mary and Kevin, and by his son Theodore. He is survived by his wife Faith, son Richard Jr., daughter Faith, son James, and granddaughters Lauren Russell and Kelyn Doyle.
Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Surfside on April 23 rd with viewing at 10 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11 am and entombment at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery in Doral at 12:30 pm. Funeral arrangements through Gregg L. Mason Funeral Home (305)757-9000.
