Marilyn was born on December 28, 1944 in Lansing, Michigan to the late John and Mae (Brandt) Meesig.
Marilyn was a 1963 graduate of Norwalk St. Paul High School and attended Mary Manse College. Most of her career she worked in sales and banking, and dedicated much of her life to volunteer organizations. Marilyn was State Leader of the Ohio Hospital Association Volunteer Services Organization. She served on boards for the Volunteer Center of Erie County, Providence Hospital Women’s Center, was a trustee of the Sandusky Yacht Club Auxiliary, and vice -president of Alpha Pi Chapter Beta Sigma Pi. She was instrumental in establishing what is now the Firelands Regional Medical Center Men and Women of Excellence Award which recognizes area men and women for outstanding volunteer service to our community. This past summer, the Rotary Foundation awarded Marilyn Honorary Membership and named her a Paul Harris Fellow for her community service and contributions.
She served as a Eucharistic minister, was a member of the Sandusky Ski Club, Sandusky Yacht Club, Sandusky Sailing Club and Card Club and was a faithful Buckeyes and Indians fan.
Marilyn loved doing anything with her family and especially being the favorite Aunt Mo. She enjoyed entertaining; traveling here and abroad and making others smile.
Marilyn is survived by her two sisters, Sharon (Tom) Miller of Milan and Mary Ann (Dennis) Jondle of Mentor; brother, John (Paula) Meesig of Lakewood and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many wonderful friends.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Gene Koby and brother, Michael Meesig.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
