She was born October 19, 1932 in Geneva, Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Linesville-Conneaut-Summit High School. She attended a Meat Packing School in New York and worked at New Process formerly Blair. In 1963 she moved to Norwalk and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Norwalk. She was a cafeteria worker for many years with the Norwalk City Schools and Norwalk Daycare Center. She was a member of the OES Chapter Queen Esther and Ladies Oriental Shrine in Toledo. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and word games.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Smith of Norwalk and Stan (Patricia) Rion of Florence, KY; sister, Barbara Luckock of Conneautville, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rion in 1990; parents, Claude and Freda (Rodgers) Walther; siblings, Frank Walther and Edith Rozalski; and a son-in-law, Larry R. Smith.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Brian Oglesbee, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Norwalk, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
