Kimberlin, Nolt win electrical safety contest

Each year, Electrical Safety Foundation International designates May as National Electrical Safety Month.

Two local residents are among the winners of the 2019 Firelands Electric Cooperative electrical safety contest. The winners are Isabella Kimberlin, of Greenwich (daughter of Benny and Jennifer Kimberlin); Katie Nolt, of Willard (daughter of Kervin and Minerva Nolt); and Hadley Young, of Polk.

To help raise awareness of the importance of electrical safety among the cooperative’s future members, Firelands Electric sponsored an electrical safety quiz and contest. Children of co-op members in kindergarten through fifth grade were eligible to enter.

Students who correctly answered at least six of the eight questions on the electrical safety quiz printed in the March issue of Ohio Cooperative Living magazine had their name entered in a drawing for a chance to win one of three $15 restaurant gift cards. The correct answers to the quiz, as well as photos of the winners, will appear in the May issue of Ohio Cooperative Living.

“This contest is a great way for the cooperative to help teach children about potential electrical hazards inside their homes,” said Tracy Gibb, Firelands Electric communications and member relations specialist.
