Free fall prevention equipment available for residents in the Milan/Berlin Heights area

• Dec 6, 2018 at 12:00 PM

Are you a senior citizen looking to make your home a little safer?

The Erie County health department has agreed to reimburse Serving Our Seniors up to $1,500 for providing and installing fall-prevention equipment. Such equipment includes raised toilet seats, shower chairs that allow a person to sit in their shower or tub while showering, hand-held shower heads, bath benches and grab bars.

Reimbursement is limited to $200 per fall prevention job.

There is a catch: recipients must be residents of Erie County, which includes Berlin Heights, Berlin Township and most of the Milan area.

In addition, 13 rubberized tub/shower mats, which are used to prevent slipping while getting into or out of the tub/shower, are also available — free of charge — to Erie County senior citizens living in the Berlin Heights/Milan area.

For more information, call Serving Our Seniors at 419-624-1856 and ask to speak with a senior advocate assistant about “fall prevention.”
