MIFFLIN — A Lakeville teen remains in critical condition today after she was sucked into and passed through Charles Mill Dam and then was revived with CPR, according to the Ashland Source.

Regina Miller, 18, of Lakeville, was swimming in a restricted area near the dam at Charles Mill Lake, 2202 Ohio 603, around 2:15 a.m. today when she was pulled toward the dam by the undertow, according to Ashland County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Carl Richert.

"She was able to go through the grates and through the gates," Richert said. "If she makes it, she's very lucky."

Miller passed through the dam into the spillway, where a fisherman spotted her face down and jumped in to rescue her. The fisherman, Jared Tims of Fredericktown, pulled Miller out of the water and revived her using CPR.

Miller was taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, where Richert said her condition was "not good."

A hospital spokesperson confirmed Miller was in critical condition as of 11 a.m.

The Mifflin Township Fire Department and Mifflin Community Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
