MILAN — Edison Elementary School had an assembly last week in the gymnasium.

This assembly celebrated the students’ achievements for the Jump Rope for Heart campaign.

As a direct result, kindergarten students through third-graders were challenged to raise $5,000 for the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart program.

“This goal was shattered by the students with the community’s help and the Edison Elementary students helped to raise over $6,000. We are very proud of our students and our community members for their participation. As a result of this achievement, the Edison Elementary school has earned the opportunity for a school wide special event. The assembly celebration (included) fun games and activities for all of the students,” said physical education teacher Dan Campana.

Parents and guests were seated on the stage area throughout the assembly. The entire student body participated.

“In recognition of the celebration the dress code for the day is ’crazy dress-up day,’” Campana said.

“In closing, I would sincerely like to thank all of our Edison Elementary students and community members for participating in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser for this year. Your support to encourage good heart health and continued research for the future is greatly appreciated.”
