Performing arts center needed in Willard

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following letter to the editor was submitted by Bob and Ruth Brown of New Haven.

The Willard City School District has many students involved in both the visual and performing arts. The performing arts include band, orchestra, choir, and theater. Students involved in the arts experience many lifetime benefits which greatly enhance their academic development. Several of these benefits include creativity, confidence, dedication, focusing, problem solving, critical thinking skills, collaboration and accountability.

There is an opportunity in the future to build the Willard Performing Arts and Civic Center on the Willard City School property. This facility will greatly benefit both the school and whole community with events that include music and theater performances, and various visual art exhibits which will show off the arts and help them to thrive in the Willard area.

Please consider voting yes on May 8 for the Willard City School District 1.25 percent earned income tax, which will provide funds in the future to build the Willard Performing Arts and Civic Center.
