This is the truth about medical marijuana

• Apr 5, 2017 at 1:00 PM

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following letter to the editor was submitted by Angela Organ, a self-proclaimed educated realist in Norwalk.

To the ignorant woman who recently wrote in:

I am a freelance writer who often specializes in writing on medical marijuana.

First of all, let me educate you. THC is a cannabinoid, that is a cannabis plant extract. It has many healing properties as well as the "high" but wait there's more. There is also a cannabinoid called CBD, that has all the healing benefits without the "high" and that is what is in medical marijuana at least 50% of the time. So, there will be no euphoria or hallucinations, which by the way does not happen with THC either.

Second, as my clients in marijuana would attest, the legalization there as brought nothing but jobs and money to their fair state of Colorado.

Third, no "element" would be introduced to Norwalk. The legalization of marijuana removes the need for a dealer. Look at history. See the crime that comes with criminalizing alcohol? Legalizing marijuana, brings less crime. Plus no one will think of us as a weed city. We are not thought of as a "beer" city a "fat city but we do have an alcohol plant and a bakery.

As far as only helping with seizures or a mild pain sedative....let me educate you some more. Cannabis cannabinoids can help multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, Crohn's disease, migraines, glaucoma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, Parkinson's disease, need I go On? Well, I will anyway. It can also help slow the progression of some cancer cells and Alzheimer's.

Here is the truth.
