This annual campaign is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) national Click It or Ticket high-visibility enforcement effort that runs from May 20 to June 2. Aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep families safe, the national seat belt campaign runs concurrent with the busy travel season.
“During the Click It or Ticket campaign, we cannot overstate the importance of wearing a seat belt. It’s the law, but it’s more than that. By far, buckling up is the simplest thing you can do to limit injury or save your life during a crash,” said Lindsey Leber, HCSCC coordinator.
To kick-off the Click It or Ticket campaign mobilization, HCSCC will be partnering with local McDonald’s restaurants in Bellevue and Willard to hold two McDonald’s Community Safety Day events.
Events will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bellevue McDonald’s, located at 100 McDonald’s Drive and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the Willard McDonald’s, located at 207 Walton St. The HCSCC encouraged the public to stop out and see the coalition members as they bring awareness to the importance of wearing a seat belt.
