The results of a urine test are pending in connection with a suspected impaired driving incident.

Dallas B. Yost, 22, of 110 Prospect St., North Fairfield, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to control. The charges are in connection with a crash Wednesday morning on Ridge Road investigated by the state Highway Patrol.

Yost was northbound about 6 a.m. Lt. Charles Gullett said the man attempted to make a left turn onto South Norwalk Road, went off the left side of Ridge Road and hit a tree.

Yost wasn’t injured, Gullett said, but the vehicle had damage to the hood, front bumper, grill and engine compartment. The airbags deployed as a result of the collision.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash site to assist troopers.

“They were on the scene when we got there. They didn’t need anything and took care of (the investigation),” sheriff’s Lt. Bill Duncan said.
