Two motorists taken to hospitals after separate crashes

Troopers with the Norwalk post of the state Highway Patrol investigated several traffic accidents in recent days, including two that resulted in people being taken to hospitals.

Here is a roundup of recent crash reports:

July 28

10:45 a.m.: Responded to a crash on Ohio 103. Sheri Mitchell, 57, of Shelby, was traveling south on Peru Center Road. William Krabill, 51, of Willard, was traveling west on 103. Mitchell failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled into Ohio 103. Krabill was struck by Mitchell in the intersection. Mitchell came to rest at the southwest corner of the intersection and Krabill came to rest in the west lane of 103. No injuries were reported. Mitchell was charged with a stop sign violation.

Thursday

7:58 a.m.: Responded to a crash on Ohio 4. Richard Taylor, 83, of Elyria, was traveling north on Ohio 4, when he crossed the center line, ran off left side of the road and then struck a ditch and a pole. Taylor was charged with failure to control and transported to The Bellevue Hospital by North Central EMS for his injuries.

Friday

6:50 a.m.: Responded to a crash on Ohio 13. Brian Criss, 42, of Shiloh, was traveling was on Baseline Road. He failed to yield the right of way to Morton Dean, 60, of Mansfield. Criss entered the southbound lane on Ohio 13 and struck Dean. Criss came to rest on the east shoulder of Ohio 13 and Dean came to rest on the west shoulder. Criss was charged with a stop sign violation.

4:07 p.m.: Responded to a crash on Ohio 61. Daniel Brown, 30, of Willard, was traveling north on Ohio 61, when he drove left of center to pass stopped vehicles. Dan Elliot, 45, of Plymouth, was traveling south, on a motorcycle without a helmet. Elliot went off the road to avoid being struck by Brown and then overturned on the road. Elliot was charged with a violation of motorcycle rules and transported to Willard Mercy Health Hospital by Plymouth EMS for his injuries. Brown was charged with driving on the left side of the road.
