The state Highway Patrol’s Sandusky post is investigating the two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 3:52 p.m. Saturday on Ohio 269 south of Port Clinton Eastern Road.
Keith W. Tressel, 47, of Lorain, was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson north on Ohio 269 when a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Shelby A. Hufeld, 28, of Dearborn Heights, Mich., entered the road from a private drive, failing to yield to the motorcycle, troopers said. The motorcycle then struck the Jeep, causing Kelly R. Tressel, 45, of Lorain, to be ejected.
Kelly Tressel, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
Keith Tressel also was not wearing a helmet. He sustained minor injuries, troopers said.
Hufeld and her passenger, Jakoby Hufeld, 8, of Dearborn Heights, Mich., were wearing safety belt sand did not sustain any injuries, troopers said.
Shelby Hufeld was charged with failure to yield from a private driveway, operating a vehicle while impaired, child endangerment, possession of marijuana, and aggravated vehicular homicide, troopers said. She was incarcerated at the Ottawa County Jail.
