Teresa G. Ott, 58, of Brook Park, was driving a 2004 Jeep Liberty west in the right lane of Ohio 2 at 11:13 a.m. when the vehicle went off the right side of the highway and down an embankment, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol’s Sandusky post.
The vehicle then struck a culvert concrete pipe, continued west and struck an embankment before overturning and coming to a rest on all four wheels, about 160 feet from the roadway, troopers said.
Ott was pronounced deceased at the scene by Huron Township Fire Department. Her body was transported from the scene by Foster Funeral Home and Crematory in Huron.
The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene by Central Automotive Towing of Sandusky.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Huron Township Police and Fire Department, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Central Automotive Towing, Foster Funeral Home and Crematory and Erie County Coroner’s Office.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol is a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, troopers said.
