WILLARD — A man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries Thursday evening after wrecking a friend’s new motorcycle.

Michael Wheeler, 34, of Norwalk, accepted the offer from a friend to take his newly purchased 2011 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle “for a spin and test it out” at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday.

While driving near Whistler Drive, Wheeler lost control of the bike, which hit a parking curb and a handicap sign and came to rest in the grassy area next to a building, according to Willard Police Department reports.

He was transported to Mercy Health Willard Hospital by Willard EMS for his injuries. However, he was released a short time later, “a little banged up with some minor scrapes and bruises,” police reports stated.

The motorcycle suffered disabling damage.

Wheeler was charged with not having reasonable control.
