Hamman promoted to staff lieutenant at the Bucyrus district headquarters

COLUMBUS — Lt. Douglas A. Hamman, most recently the Norwalk post commander of the state Highway Patrol, has been promoted to the rank of staff lieutenant.

Hamman, who was promoted March 5, was recognized recently by Col. Paul Pride, patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the training academy. Hamman will transfer from the Norwalk post to serve as an assistant district commander at the Bucyrus district headquarters.

The new staff lieutenant began his patrol career in February 1994 as a member of the 126th academy class. As a trooper, Hamman also served at the Mansfield post and the Bucyrus district, criminal investigations. In 2007, he was promoted to sergeant and transferred to the Bucyrus post to be an assistant post commander.

As a sergeant, Hamman also served in the Bucyrus district criminal patrol unit. In 2011, he was promoted to lieutenant and transferred to the Norwalk post to serve as post commander.

Hamman earned a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice from Bluffton College in 1995.

Lt. Charles Gullett is the new Norwalk post commander.
