Four sent to hospitals after traffic accident

Four people were injured, one critically, in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in Sandusky County’s Washington Township.

Trey A. Wiseman, 33, of Green Springs, was driving a 2001 Toyota Rav4 north on Ohio 600 at 6:45 pm. when he failed to yield at the stop sign for the U.S. 20 intersection and pulled into the path of an eastbound 2017 Ford Focus being driven by Darryl P. Finney, 66, of Bellevue, said troopers with the Fremont post of the state Highway Patrol. Finney’s Ford struck Wiseman’s Toyota, sending it off the north side of U.S. 20. Finney’s vehicle slid to a stop in the center turn lane of the highway.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Mercy St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, where they were listed in stable condition.

Two passengers in Wiseman’s car also were injured. 

The rear right passenger, Robert D. Heminger, 26, of Gibsonburg, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

The front right passenger, Michael J. McVicker, 33, of Fremont, was transported to Fremont Promedica Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.


Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Lindsey Volunteer Fire Department, Gibsonburg Life Squad 14, Fremont Life Squads 17 & 18, Sandusky Township EMS, Ash’s Towing, and Triple J’s Towing.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
