Details of the case were not available Wednesday evening, however the Reflector learned Burton was booked into the Huron County Jail.
Willard Police Department made the arrest, but police chief Shannon Chaffins was not available. City manager Jim Ludban, though, confirmed the arrest was made.
“We arrested him, but their’s just not much we can say right now,” he said, adding he expected more details to be available today or later in the week.
A Nov. 2 Willard police report documents a Willard man calling to report “an incident that happened to his 12-year-old daughter a month ago,” which was suspected to have involved Burton.
On Nov. 23 officers attempted to arrest Burton, according to reports, however, he entered a house at 318 W. Pearl St., Willard.
He was arrested then Tuesday after his sister Judy Thomas called police asking for a welfare check on their mother, Geraldine Cole. Thomas said Cole lived with Burton at 318 W. Pearl St, Willard. Once booked at the jail, Burton listed his address as 109 1/2 Motson St., Willard.
“She hasn’t spoken to her mother since August,” the report said of Thomas. “(She said) that her brother beats her mother for money but she won’t file charges.”
Officers made the arrest at 7:35 p.m. from the Pearl Street address.
