Head on collision hospitalizes woman, child with life-threatening injuries

LEXINGTON — The state Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Darcy Scholl Boyd, 49, of Lexington was southbound on U.S. 42 in Lexington when she drove her 2011 grey Dodge Durango left of center, striking a northbound 2003 silver Jeep Cherokee head on. 

The driver, Elizabeth Clark, 53, of Mansfield, was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield with life threatening injuries. Her 14-year-old passenger, Timothy Clark, was also transported to OhioHealth Mansfield, and later transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries. 

Boyd was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield with non-life threatening injuries. 

Seat belts were worn by all occupants. The crash occurred near Cedarwod Drive.

The Lexington Police Department assisted along with Troy Springfield Township Fire Departments. ODOT set up a a detour for traffic control as U.S. 42 was closed for about three and a half hours. The crash remains under investigation.
