Erie MetroParks announces two hunting opportunities

Two upcoming hunting opportunities have been announced.

Erie MetroParks has scheduled a youth lottery on Saturday, Aug. 11 to give young hunters and trappers a chance to hunt at the East Sandusky Bay MetroPark - Joseph Steinen Wildlife Area located on Cleveland Road in Huron.

The mandatory lottery meeting will take place at the Frost Center at Osborn MetroPark, (3910 Perkins Ave, Huron, OH). Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Interested youth hunters must attend this mandatory meeting. The drawing begins at 9 a.m. No late arrivals will be admitted. Also, an annual lottery drawing will be held for adults only for a deer gun hunt Nov. 26 through 30. The hunt will take place in sections of Edison Woods MetroPark in Berlin Heights from a half hour before sunrise to noon.

Here’s how to apply: Interested adult (ages 18 or older) hunters may apply. Applicants need to clearly print their name, address, phone number, birth date and whether you are mobility impaired on the letter with the words “Edison Woods Controlled Deer Hunt” labeled at the top. The letter must be postmarked by Oct. 5 and include a $5 application fee to qualify. 

Mail to: Erie MetroParks, ATTN: Tara Kauffman, 3910 Perkins Ave, Huron, Ohio 44839 with a $5 application fee of either cash or check (made out to Erie MetroParks).
