Want to quit smoking? Here's a $20 incentive

• Oct 4, 2018 at 6:00 PM

NORWALK — Huron County Public Health (HCPH) is offering an incentive to area residents taking the first steps towards being tobacco-free.

The first 50 participants in the agency’s Community Cessation Initiative (CCI) program to attend their first cessation appointment will receive a $20 gift card to CVS Pharmacy.

The CCI program is designed to connect individuals who wish to quit smoking or using other tobacco products with local cessation services. HCPH encourages community members who are ready to quit using tobacco to call 419-668-1652 Ext. 269.

Through the CCI program, cessation services are billed through participants’ private health insurance and/or Medicaid. If cessation services are not covered or the participant is uninsured, the CCI program will cover the cost of the counseling services, at no expense to the participant. CCI participants will also benefit from a unique feature of the program, relapse management. CCI Coordinator will follow up with each participating client to help them stay tobacco-free, encourage additional quit attempts and conveniently connect them with additional cessation services, if needed. The first 50 participants who are connected with a local cessation provider and attend their first appointment will receive a $20 gift card to CVS Pharmacy.

CCI is made possible through the Ohio Department of Health (ODH)’s Bureau of Health Promotion’s grant funding; awarded to serve Huron, Erie, and Sandusky Counties. For more information about the program call 419-668-1652 Ext. 269 or visit www.huroncohealth.com/CCI.
