First-half real estate tax collection in Huron County

By Norwalk Reflector staff • Updated Jan 8, 2019 at 3:39 PM

Huron County Treasurer Kathleen Schaffer has scheduled the off-site tax collection schedule for county residents.

Each site will be available 9 a.m. until noon:

• Jan. 29, Wakeman village offices

• Jan. 30, New London village offices

• Jan. 31, Willard branch of Enrichment Centers for Huron County

Pay with a check or money order; no debit/credit cards or cash will be accepted.

“We are requesting that checks be written with a blue or black pen. The office scans and electronically deposits all checks and the scanner does not pick up reds, pinks, and greens,” Schaffer said.

The tax bill must be presented at the time of payment or the payment will not be accepted.

The drive-thru, behind the county offices building in Norwalk, has been closed permanently due to the parking lot renovations.

There is a secure night-drop box located inside the front door of the treasurer’s office, 16 E. Main St., to the right. This is accessible 24/7.

First-half property taxes are due by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 8.
