In efforts to complete the grant’s mission to save lives and reduce injuries on Ohio’s roads through leadership and partnering efforts, HCPH formed the Huron County Safe Community Coalition and the Huron County Fatal Review Committee. The Huron County Safe Community Coalition and Huron County Fatal Crash Review Committee held their first meetings on Dec. 28.
The Huron County Fatal Crash Review Committee reported two fatal traffic crashes on Huron County roadways during the last quarter of 2017 (October through December).
In 2017, there were a total of six fatal crashes resulting in six fatalities, down slightly from 2016 (eight fatal crashes and nine fatalities).
The Huron County Safe Communities Coalition reviewed trends submitted by the Fatal Crash Review Committee. The coalition will strive to establish community ownership and support for traffic safety related programs and promote traffic safety through education, promotion, prevention and enforcement of safe driving practices.
