Monroeville, St. Paul win FC matches

Monroeville 3, W. Reserve 1

COLLINS — The Eagles improved to 8-3 overall (6-1 FC) with a four-game win over the host Roughriders (8-4, 4-3).

Monroeville by scores of 25-17, 26-28, 25-23 and 25-18.

Kirsten Stieber had 12 kills, two blocks, 20 digs and was 15 for 16 serving with two aces for the Eagles. Adrian Barman had 12 kills and two blocks, and Ashlyn Tommas was 17 for 18 serving with an ace and had eight kills and 11 digs.

Also for Monroeville, Kara Schafer was 125-of-127 setting with 40 assists and 15 digs, and Stacia Stieber was 18 for 18 serving with an ace and 30 digs. Kelsie Palmer added eight kills and three blocks, Kyle Brooks had seven kills and three blocks, and Maddie Elmlinger had 13 digs.

For Western, Emma Weber was 30-of-34 hitting with 13 kills, while Brooke Ommert was 29-of-32 with 10 kills. Morgan White had 20 digs and seven points, and Joleen Muenz had 20 digs, while Andrea Robson was perfect serving with eight points.

St. Paul 3, South Central 0

GREENWICH — The No. 1-ranked team in the Division IV state coaches poll was tested in the third game, but still swept the host Trojans in a Firelands Conference match, 25-17, 25-16, 29-27.

For St. Paul (10-0, 7-0), Tess Lepley had 19 kills, while Meghan Hedrick added 15 kills and Megan Hammersmith had eight.

Kamryn Maxwell finished with seven kills and six points serving, and Lauren Chandler had 11 points and 18 digs.

Also for St. Paul, which trailed 22-17 in Game 3 before rallying, Rachel Bleile had 42 assists and 11 points. Claire Spettel added 10 digs and Hannah Rudolph had five points.

For South Central (9-6, 4-3), Izzy Hauler had seven kills and 19 digs. Maddie Albert was 13 for 13 serving with three aces, 71-of-71 setting with 16 assists and added 11 digs.

Also for the Trojans, Taylor Sexton was 15 for 17 serving with two aces, Sarah Oney had 11 digs and Jenna West added five kills. 

Oak Harbor 3, Edison 0

OAK HARBOR — The state-ranked Rockets continued their unbeaten streak with a 25-10, 25-6, 25-6 Sandusky Bay Conference Bay division victory Tuesday over Edison.

With the win, Oak Harbor improves to 15-0 overall, 6-0 in the league to lead the Bay division.

For Edison, Kami Neuberger had 12 digs and eight assists, while Natalie Lambert had 10 digs and three assists, Hannah Vitaz had four kills and Jessica Stoll had seven digs and three kills.

Macy Stower had two kills, three digs and two aces for the Chargers (4-8, 3-3 SBC), while Alana Fidler had three kills, Grace Houser added six digs and Melissa Kuhl contributed two kills.

TENNIS

Norwalk 5, Shelby 0

SHELBY — Visiting Norwalk improved to 12-4 (9-2 SBC Lake) with Tuesday’s sweep over the host Whippets.

Megan Berry won at first singles over Leah Karnes (6-0, 6-1), and Gabby Horowitz beat Kristen Long at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1). Lizzie Ratliff outlasted Allie Gies at third singles (6-7 (8), 6-4, 11-9).

The first doubles team of Macy Miller and Jordan Gran topped Jarica Awwiller and Madison Sharrock (6-1, 6-2), and Sela and Mara Berry topped Faith Gosser and Jensen Feussner at No. 2 doubles (6-1, 6-0).

Willard 4, Huron 1

WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes improved to 16-1 overall (12-0 SBC Bay) with Tuesday’s win over the visiting Tigers.

Emma Moll got Willard started at first singles with a sweep over Hannah Brurow (6-0, 6-0), while Carlee Gibson and Addy Paxton followed with a pair of 6-0, 6-1 wins over Angelina Rodriguez and Paige Romell at second and third singles.

Huron’s lone win was at first doubles. The team of Katey Franks and Desiree Fisher topped Jo Brubaker and Kennedy Daub (6-4, 7-5). At second doubles, Tori Barnett and Whitney Robinson beat Madison Carmel and Gretchen Blackwell (6-2, 4-6, 10-7).

BOYS GOLF

Crestview 193, St. Paul 246

The Flyers fell to the Cougars on Tuesdya in the final Firelands Conference match before Thursday’s FC tournament in Galion.

For the Flyers, Keegan Baker shot a 53, followed by Joseph Swope (58), David Swope (67) and Nathan Juby (68).

Edison 173, Oak Harbor 181

HURON — At Thunderbird South, the Chargers (4-8) slipped past the visiting Rockets for an SBC win on Tuesday.

Edison was led by medalist Casey Fair with a 37. He was followed by Ryan Nealey (44), Thomas Oeder (47), Clayton Betts (47) and Aden Hall (47).

GIRLS GOLF

St. Paul 193, Danbury 228

All 14 players got in the action as St. Paul topped visiting Danbury on Tuesday at Eagle Creek Golf Club.

Caitlyn Corrigan was medalist for the Flyers (43), followed by Gabby Scavuzzo (46), Miller Hosack (52), Tori Pocos (52), Sarah Scavuzzo (54) and Sammy Lippert (69).

The remaining scores included Raquel Taggart (53, Grace Gillen (59, Catherine Juby (61), Cassie Baker (62), Regan Olak (54), Kaitlyn Bryant (61), Kaitlynn Olak (62) and Brooke Bleile (63).
