A credentialed member of the international media had two of Brady’s missing jerseys, according to a written statement from the NFL and a tweet by Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo. The suspect's name has not been released.
The MVP’s Super Bowl LI jersey was taken last month after the New England Patriots' overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
The second jersey was his Super Bowl XLIX jersey, which he wore against the Seattle Seahawks in 2015.
“Note to to the international media: Don’t mess with Texas,” Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said on Facebook.
The theft of the Super Bowl LI jersey, which was valued at $500,000, was treated as a felony by Houston police.
"I put it in the bag, and then I came out and it wasn't there anymore,” Brady said after the game. “So it's unfortunate because that's a nice piece of memorabilia. So if it shows up on eBay somewhere, someone let me know."
