From 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, anyone who orders a Domino’s pizza might be randomly selected and surprised at the door when their pizza arrives aboard a fire engine. If the smoke alarms in the home are working, their order is free. If the smoke alarms aren’t working, firefighters will replace them or install new batteries.
“Fire safety is extremely important,” said Greg Polachek, Willard Domino’s franchise owner. “We’re very excited to partner with NFPA and the fire department for a program that not only promotes the safety of our friends and neighbors, but rewards those who make fire safety a priority.”
Fire Chief Joe Reiderman outlined steps steps that people can take to reduce the chances of having a fire.
“Look for places a fire could start — identify potential fire fire hazards and take care of them. Listen for the sound of a smoke alarm, as you only have a few minutes to safely escape a fire once they sound. And lastly, learn two ways out of every room. These steps can make all of the difference and we hope to raise awareness about them through our partnership with Domino’s,” he said.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.”
Customers can call Willard Domino’s at 419-935-3030 to place their order or they can order online and be eligible for the fire-engine delivery.
