Norwalk firefighters were called to the vehicle fire at 5273 Whittlesey Road at 4:41 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found “a sport utility vehicle with heavy fire involvement,” according to the fire report.
Firefighters extinguished the fire.
The vehicle owner said he was driving to work and a sudden flash of fire came from under the hood. He then stopped and exited the vehicle.
Firefighters estimated the fire caused $13,000 in property damage. They returned to the station at 5:33.
The report did not list the name of the driver or the make and model of the SUV.
