SANDUSKY — A teen boy was flown to a Toledo hospital after being partially thrown from a vehicle Friday.

Dylan R. Popke, 17, of Sandusky, was traveling northwest on Ohio 99 at 6:10 p.m. Friday when he tried to make a left turn into the Marathon Gas Station at 8606 Ohio 4 and entered the path of a vehicle traveling southeast on Ohio 99, according to an Erie County Sheriff’s Office report. That led to a collision.

Popke’s front-seat passenger, Dawson W. Popke, 14, of Sandusky, was partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was flown by a LifeFlight helicopter to Toledo Hospital, deputies said.

The other driver, Jennifer L. Laughlin, 30, of Sandusky had one passenger, Brent A. Yoakum, 41, of Sandsuky. Those two, along with Popke, reported unspecified, “possible” injuries, deputies said. All three were taken by ambulance to Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Popke was cited for a failure to yield when making a left turn, deputies said.
