Power outages in Huron County

By Norwalk Reflector Staff • Updated Mar 2, 2018 at 9:10 AM

Today’s high winds and rains have caused a number of power outages in our area.

As of 7 p.m. Ohio Edison First Energy reported about 501 to 1,500 customers were being affected by power outages in the Norwalk area.

The electric company is currently investigating the outage and reports they are on scene.

“We expect to restore power to the majority of affected customers by tomorrow at 1:30 a.m.,” the website map reported.

Firelands Electric Co-Op Inc. reports 178 customers in Huron County were without power. Crews were assigned to the outages, but no expected repair time was given on the company’s website.

These outages come amidst torrents of rain, followed by sleet and snow. Wind and weather advisories were issued for Huron County and are blamed for downed trees and power lines.
