• Updated Jan 29, 2018 at 9:49 AM

A Norwalk woman called 9-1-1 early Friday morning to report the house fire that claimed three lives.

However, being new to the area, the Carriage Court resident had difficulty explaining exactly where the fire was. It turned out to be 8 Park Ridge Court.

Carriage Court and Park Ridge Court are cul-de-sacs located off Valley Park Drive on Norwalk’s west side.

Shortly after the start of the 9-1-1 call, which lasted about seven minutes, the dispatcher put the woman on hold so he could contact firefighters to the area. Then their conversation resumed as the dispatcher tried to get a street and address for the house fire.

“It’s burning hot and heavy,” she said.

A few times during the call, the woman can be heard praying that the residents got out.

“Oh, man! Look how bad it got,” she said. “They’re yelling for somebody. Oh, please let them get out.”

The victims have been identified as 65-year-old Robert Griggs, his 57-year-old wife Rebecca and their 27-year-old son James.
