The tree, an 80- to 90-foot tall pine, was blown over by high winds at the corner of East Chestnut Street and Dudley Boulevard on Wednesday. Firefighters received a call and responded to the scene at about 3:52 p.m., only to discover that the tree had knocked down power lines when it fell.
They placed a call to Ohio Edison so the power lines could be removed and Leimeister’s was contacted for tree removal services. Leimeister’s brought a bucket truck and a crane to remove it.
As of Wednesday, the $8,000 estimated damage did not include any destruction done to items stored inside the garage.
This was one of many incidents of damage caused by Wednesday’s high winds, which included gusts of more than 50 mph.
